Poverty and exclusion
The fight against poverty, discrimination and exclusion from economic growth must be in line with a social, family minded and voluntarist policy that associates every citizen in the same concern for life-long equality and progression whatever the stage of her/his life cycle.
Measures have been taken in relation to improve the quality of life for salaried workers and their families within the EuropeanUnion. Yet, as long as the family-based work of, “care” is unrecognized and unvalued, many women will remain condemned to precariousness, if not poverty.
Are there data on the impact of European policies on families? on each of their members? And what about those that do not have access to employment (any more)?
F.E.F.A.F. requests
- full citizenship for all those performing – on a full- or part-time basis - the family work of “care” toward a dependent relative: children, adolescents, parents
- community policies to fight against discrimination and for social integration to be based on the principles of equality, social justice and respect for human rights as defined in the New Treaty, in all spheres of life and not merely linked to an Employment strategy or statute of remunerated worker
- that for European NGOs working in this field: to have the opportunity to access financial means allowing them to fully carry out their role of fighting against discrimination, whatever their size may be
