Pension and social rights

In the context of European systems of social welfare: the number of children and the period of care for dependent persons and their degree of dependence must be taken into consideration when granting social welfare rights (pension, parental leave, career break). Even based on the open method of coordination, no social policy restricting itself to the employed persons will be really effective if it fails to take into consideration all aspects of the life of the beneficiary.

Do we know the number of people, especially women, who find themselves in a precarious situation due to the lack of recognition of family-based work?
Do we have an evaluation of the economic value of the work carried out in the home by the full- or part-time homemaker?

F.E.F.A.F. requests

  • individualisation of personal rights - without losing out on established rights -, including the “care” and accounting for this family time in the calculation of pensions
  • the possibility of flexible remunerated employment - without penalization and loss of social welfare rights - according to the needs of the family (children and dependent adults)
